Gail Odom

AIKEN, SC – AMANDA GAIL ODOM, 68, died Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Augusta University Medical Center. Born in Darlington, SC, Gail was a daughter of the late Leon Richard and Hallie Gustava Kessinger Blackmon, Sr. She grew up in Barnwell County and lived in Aiken the last 30 years. Gail was the former office manager for Aiken Family Dental. She retired from Augusta University School of Dentistry September 1st. Gail was a former member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, James Elliott Odom, Jr. (Tracy), Jerry Deanie Odom, Sr., (Tanya) and Richard Zonnie Odom, Sr., all of Aiken; twelve grandchildren, Taylor, Halle, Jerry, Jr., Amanda, Cydney, Austin, Timothy, Richard, Jr., Christian, Logan, Ethan and Jordan; a sister, Janet Jones (Randall), Bamburg; two brothers, Leon R. “Dickie” Blackmon, Bamburg and Michael W. Blackmon, Hilton Head. In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey K. Blackmon. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday morning at 11 o’clock at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with The Rev. Toby Rowell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
