AIKEN - Mrs. Lillian Helen Kachelmus Symonds, 87, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church Cemetery with the Rev. Grant Wiseman officiating.
Mrs. Symonds was born in Wilmington, DE and moved to Aiken with her family in 1955, shortly after construction of the Savannah River Plant was completed. She spent her career working as a cosmetics buyer for J.B. White department store for over 20 years.
Mrs. Symonds became a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church and the Cereus Garden Club, where she was twice club president. She and her husband, Albert, also became involved with ACTS since its inception.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Symonds, Jr., a daughter; Cheryl Ann Gotay and a son, Albert E. Symonds III.
Mrs. Symonds is survived by her son, Christopher Mark Symonds, Aiken; grandchildren, Trent Gotay and Kevin Gotay of Atlanta, GA and a stepbrother, Richard Trager of Wilmington, DE.
