BLACKVILLE, SC – Mr. Kenneth Bruce Johnson, 65, died peacefully Saturday, September 17, 2016. Mr. Johnson is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanne Carey Johnson; daughter, Carey J Cook, Asheville, NC; and his ten, four-legged family members in Elko, SC. He also leaves behind his sister, Suellen Johnson and niece Julia Johnson, Ocean Beach, CA; and brother, Ben Richard Johnson and wife, Susan and niece Christine, Simpsonville, SC. Ken was born in Dayton OH, son of the late Ben Matt and Francis Evelyn Sears Johnson. He graduated from Ohio State University with a BA in Russian Literature and worked for 28 years at SRNS as an email system administrator. Ken was a quiet, generous man with a quick sense of humor (if you could keep up with him). He had an immense love for animals and a keen interest in Russian literature, martial arts, J.S. Bach. Ken achieved the rank of Grand Master in chess and a black belt in Karate. In his later years, his greatest love was his farm and the life he shared with his wife and his animals. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM Friday, September 23, 2016 in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel, Hayne Ave., officiated by Pastor Bruce Page. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
