John Legare Jones

AIKEN, SC – John Legare Jones, 71, widow of Margaret Simonson “Meg” Jones, passed away Wednesday, May 04, 2016. Mr. Jones was born in Rock Hill, SC, a son of the late Thomas Edward Jones and Ferne Scoggins Jones. He was very active member of Aiken Jaycees, Augusta Sailing Club and was an Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. Mr. Jones was an Electrical Engineer at Savannah River Site, a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of South Carolina and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include two sons; Keith T. Jones, Columbia, SC and Morris E. Jones, Amherst, MA; two sisters, Elizabeth Mildred Jones Murphy, Orangeburg, SC and Caroline Scoggins Jones Winn, Watkinsville, GA. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Jones, Jr., and a sister, Helen Jones Barron. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Margaret Simonson Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund at USC-A.
