AIKEN, SC – WILLIAM J. “BILL” RUSSELL, beloved husband of Dorothy “D. J.” Russell died suddenly, Friday, November 28, 2008. Bill was born June 26, 1944 in St. Louis, MO and was a son of the late George and Martha Russell of Norman OK. He served as a sub mariner in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Nuclear Engineering. He worked on start-up of many nuclear facilities in the United States, and lately in re-licensing those facilities. Over the years he worked and resided in South Haven MI, Glen Ellen, VA, New Orleans, LA and Joliet, IL. He was a resident of Aiken, SC for 20 years, and for the last three years he also lived and worked in Russellville, AR. Bill was a member of Houndslake Country Club, Russellville, AR Country Club, Loyal Order of the Moose, American Legion Post and a life time member of the Aiken VFW Post 156. Bill is survived his wife of 26 years, D. J., his daughter Brandy and a son John of Edmond, OK, his step-son, Rob Hawkinson, Missoula, MT, a brother, James of Tulsa, OK and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Diane Kerr. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 3:00 PM at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC.
