Robert W. Maupin

AIKEN, S.C. – Robert Wyler Maupin, 87, beloved husband of Carol Maupin, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014. Robert was born on April 15, 1927 in Waynesboro, VA and was the son of the late Alfred (Dick) Maupin and Lacy Hoover Maupin. A retiree from the Savannah River Site he also served both in the United States Air Corps and Navy. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, traveling and his pets. Survivors, in addition to his wife Carol, include two daughters, Cynthia Phillips, Stanfield, NC, Joanna Heizer, Quicksburg, VA; a son, Robert Wesley Maupin, McDowell, VA; two stepsons, David and Dennis Shipley both of Greenville, TN; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Thomasson, Aiken, SC. Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Lee Maupin. A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, June 28, 2014 in the Shellhouse Funeral Home chapel.
