Clara E. McHenry

AIKEN, SC- CLARA EVANGLINE MERCALDI McHENRY, 71, wife of the late Grant McHenry, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at her daughter's residence. A native of Queens, New York, Mrs. McHenry was a daughter of the late Fiorvante and Alice Smallwood Mercaldi. She graduated from Chapman University in Orange, CA with a degree in Education. She taught English to students in China and also taught computer science in California and South Carolina. She was a member of Cedar Creek Church and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. McHenry is survived by four daughters, Debra Pommer-Siegel, Malibu, CA; Ruth Ann Pommer, Los Angeles, CA; Denise Sherrard (Matthew), Aiken, SC and Susanne C. Wessel (Thomas), Aiken, SC; six grandchildren, Jolie B. Pommer Siegel, Leo Buckle, Lilly Buckle, Christian Sherrard, Kai Wessell and Marin Wessel; three sisters; Maria Shores, Laguna Hills, CA. Margurite Mercaldo and Cathy Cardenas, both of Henderson, NV. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday February 10th at 2:00 PM at Cedar Creek Church followed by a reception at the home of Thomas and Susie Wessel.
