John Greene Shuler III

AIKEN, SC - JOHN G. SHULER III, 43, loving husband of Heather P. Shuler, entered into rest on Thursday, June 21, 2012, after a year-long battle with brain cancer. Born in Rutherfordton, NC, John was the eldest son of June Clinkscales Shuler and the late John G. Shuler, Jr. He had lived in Aiken since he was 4 years old. He graduated from South Aiken High School in 1987 and from Clemson University in 1991 with a degree in Marketing. John worked many years for Nationwide Insurance before opening his own carpet store in Barnwell, SC. In 2003 John sold his carpet store to stay home to care for his two sons, one of whom has autism. He also worked as a home health care aide with DayBreak Adult Care Services. John devoted his entire life to his family. He was also a very devoted member of Aiken Bible Church and Cedar Creek Church. John is survived by his wife of 17 years, and his two sons, Jared, 12 and Hampton, 9, his mother of Greenwood, SC, two brothers, Brent Shuler of Atlanta, GA, and Travis (Michelle) Shuler of Cumming, GA, as well as a nephew and a niece. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday, June 25, 2012 at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Cedar Creek Church with The Reverends Philip Lee, David Hardy and Robert Laube officiating.
