AIKEN, SC – MAUDE CAMPBELL LAIN, 85, of Aiken, died Saturday, April 07, 2007 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A native of Chesterfield, SC, Mrs. Lain was a daughter of the late Daniel Coit and Betty Douglas Campbell and the widow of Alpheus Kenneth Lain. She had lived in Aiken for 55 years and was a retired secretary with DuPont at the Savannah River Site. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the National Secretary’s Association and was a former secretary of the year for that organization. Survivors include a daughter, Alice Lain King, Irmo, three sons, A. Kenneth (Rene Chandler) Lain, Jr., Aiken. Joe Donald (Susan Moore) Lain, Mt. Pleasant, SC and Raymond Lee Lain, New Ellenton, four grandchildren, Michael Kenneth Lain, Ryan Duane King, Julie King Crook and Brandon Stuart Lain, and four great-grandchildren, Courtney Lain, Paige Lain, Bria Crook and Allison Lain. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melanie Carol Lain, a grand-daughter-in-law, Dana Lain and a son-in-law, Gary D. King. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Aiken, with The Rev. Dr. George K. Howle officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery in North Augusta. Pallbearers will be Ryan King, Jason Crook, Brandon Lain, Mike Lain, Ronnie Campbell, Johnny Campbell, Tommy Campbell and Sandy Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John’s United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 809, Aiken, SC 29802 or to a favorite charity.
