NEW ELLENTON, SC – DOROTHY “Maw Maw” BEATTIE, 75, of New Ellenton, SC, widow of Dwight Beattie, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at her daughters residence in Aiken. A native of Cherokee County, SC, Mrs. Beattie was a daughter of the late Arthur and Cleo Parker Peeler. She was retired from Owens – Corning Fiberglass and was a member of the North Aiken Church of God. Mrs. Beattie was a former Poll worker in Aiken County. She was a member of Silly Citizens and a volunteer with MADD. She loved to dance. Survivors include two daughters, Sheila (Dean) Gardner, Shelby, NC and Jan (Rauly) Judy, Aiken, two sons, Michael (Linda) Beattie, New Ellenton and Randy (Patti) Beattie, Dale City, VA, eight grandchildren, Shawn Bolt, B. J. Bolt, Brad Gardner, Mark Gardner, Michael Beattie, Nikki Batchelor, Craig Splawn and Christian Judy, five great-grandchildren, Lyndsey Beatttie, Dawn Bolt, Tori Bolt, Shea Bolt and Elizabeth Batchelor and a brother, Arthur D. (Joyce) Peeler, Gaffney, SC. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Ray. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC, with the Rev. Jeff Peeler officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
