AIKEN, SC -- OWEN F. "FREDDIE" HERRON, JR., 61, beloved husband of Janice I. Herron, died suddenly Monday, April 9, 2012 at his residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Aiken, Freddie was a son of Owen F. Herron, Sr. and the late Minnie Lou VanSant Herron. He worked at Graniteville Company Gregg Dye & Finishing for 18 years, and then became a truck driver with Kendall Trucking Co. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Aiken Ward.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Janice, include his father and step-mother, Owen F. and Carey Will Herron, Sr., Aiken, five daughters, Cryste T. (Shawn) Carroll, Charleston, SC, Linda E. (Ricky) Tuttle, Greenville, SC, Jackalyn D. Herron, New York City, Dana H. (Bart) Ragon, Charlottesville, VA and Toni H. (David) Webb, Aiken, thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four sisters, Marie (Dink) Norsworthy, Windsor, SC, Janice (Jimmy) Smathers, Warrenville, SC, Brenda (Dock) Padgett, Langley and Debbie Hubbs, Trenton, a brother, Mark (Rhonda) Herron, Aiken and two sisters-in-law, Sandra Westberry, Augusta and Carol (Jessie) Taylor, Augusta, GA. Preceding Freddie in death were his mother and a son, Paul L. Threkleld.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Aiken, Ward. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, GA. Pallbearers will be Kurt Yarbrough, John Yarbrough, Robert Allen Anderson III, Brandon Griswell, Paul M. Pate and Cody Beard.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Thursday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
