AIKEN, SC -- MARY HOWELL "PEGGY" SNELLING, 79, widow of Alvie Franklin Snelling, Jr., died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the home of her daughter.
A native of South Georgia, Mrs. Snelling lived most of her life in Aiken. She was a daughter of the late Jerry and Blondell Anderson Howell, Sr. She graduated from USC Aiken with a B.A. in English and a minor in Religion at the age of 70. She and her husband were members of Millbrook Baptist for 45 years and she was a current member of Aiken's First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary F. Snelling (Ron Albertelli), a son, Dean A. Snelling, Sr., (Rebecca), a granddaughter, Sara S. Wilson (Jeffrey), a grandson, Dean Andrew Snelling, Jr. (Caylee) and a great-granddaughter, Libby Wilson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Howell, Jr.
Interment will be private in Graniteville Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM Monday at Aiken's First Baptist Church with The Reverend Fred W. Andrea III, PhD officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Sunday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
